No discussion of EDI is complete without also mentioning what is not considered Electronic Data Interchange. One common misconception is that any type of Electronic Data Transfer or Electronic Commerce is EDI. However, email, file transfers, and internet transactions are all types of Electronic Data Transfer, but they are not Electronic Data Interchange.
